As another term has come to an end I would like to reflect over the stuff we have been up to at forest school.
The time has flown by, and the children have really enjoyed celebrating the season of winter. We have had some very cold mornings but made sure to make the most of the frosty weather. The early years have been exploring ice using their senses and KS1 have been getting very creative making ice sculptures.
To warm ourselves up we had fantastic fire sessions exploring the fire triangle and fire safety. We practised stop, drop and roll as well as crawling under the smoke. The children then made their own fairy fires and finished the session off roasting marshmallows.
This term there has been a lot of focus on mindfulness, taking part in winter yoga and reading stories. We also made the most of the wet weather splashing in the puddles and making mud models.
After school the children have been taking part in first aid. They learnt many lifesaving skills and know what to do in an emergency!
It is exciting to see the signs of spring appearing around us. At Loders primary the children spotted snow drops pushing through the icy soil and are keen to keep an eye out for other signs of spring appearing. We are very much looking forward to next term where we will be exploring the season spring.
